FIONA BELL-CLASSICAL SINGER
B i o g r a p h y
Currently a second year BA Music student at Bath Spa university, studying Opera, Performance and Professional Musicianship; Fiona is studying under Leah- Marion Jones, where she is building a strong classical and operatic repertoire.
Growing up in Wales Fiona attended Ysgol Stanwell School where she began her musical journey, studying under Janice Richards and Ros Evans. Although Fiona enjoys singing Musical Theatre her forte lies within Classical and more specifically, operatic repertoire.
Fiona has been a regular Member of 'Bethesda Community Choir,' since the age of seven. At a young age she was also part of CAVMS youth choir where she performed in St David's Hall and many other settings.
Throughout her school life Fiona played the part of Jan, in 'Grease and Gigi in 'Miss Saigon,' Undoubtedly the pinnacle of her success was in late 2012 where she performed as Christine, in the world amatuer premier of 'Phantom Of the Opera.' Here she was given training by 'The publics favourite Phantom,' Peter Karie.
Fiona also sang regularly with Welsh National Opera and in 2013 she was one of only 30 17-25 year olds worldwide that were excepted in to their company to perform Britten's 'Paul Bunyan,' on the prestigious 'Donald Gordan theatre,' at Wales Millenium Centre. At her time at Welsh National Opera, Fiona gained teaching from Wynne Evans, Mary King and Kate Woolveridge. The company were nominated for many awards, including the prestigious ' South Bank Award,' where Fiona was nominated to attend the ceremonies.
At the end of her school career Fiona was also awarded 'The Glenda Palmer Award for excellence in the performing Arts.'
Now studying at Bath Spa University , Fiona has performed in many concerts with the university choir, Girls choir, Madrigals and Accidentals choir. She was also recently a part of the University's Operetta, 'Orpheus in the Underworld-Offenbach.
